Karl Niklass has been a consultant to the motor racing industry since 1984. White-Smoke was founded by Karl in 1999 as an independent resource for the study of suspension design, vehicle dynamics and tyre data analysis. White-Smoke’s portfolio of projects extends from one-off prototypes through to Formula 1 and Champ cars. Current consultancy projects include:

• Le Mans prototype LMP1 car for 2008.
• Formula Renault vehicle dynamics program.
• A1GP vehicle dynamics program.
  
• New type of parametric 3D geometry program.
• Sequential action programmable roll bar/blade designer.
• Improved tyre analysis programs for Pacejka coefficients.
• Graphical balance module for vehicle dynamics programs.
• New type of rotary engine using the Atkinson thermodynamic cycle.

Karl is a senior lecturer on vehicle dynamics at (M.E.T.C.A.) Technical Specialisation Masters in Motor Racing Competition. This is a unique participation between Epsilon Euskadi and Mondragon University.
