Just in case you do not see my message on your profile page.

Hi Martin,

How are things going? I have not had time to keep up with what you are doing. Please write back and tell me about your progress. From time to time, I would like you to look at the pages for Students Kriging and Students VDP on the White-Smoke site. Also talk to Jose Miguel, Juan Carlos and Mateo about their work. I think we could all benefit from exchanging ideas more on the W-S site. Do you want to set up a page for the Wind tunnel project?

Regards, Karl

Karl,

I sent an email to white-smoke@tirol.com address, with my conclusion of the exam.
Sorry, but the email is large enough to put in this page.

Regards

Anonymous Wheel Rate and ARB rate 0 Jul 8 2007, 10:36 AM EDT by Anonymous
Thread started: Jul 8 2007, 10:36 AM EDT  Watch

Karl,
We need to calculate the Wheel rate and ARB rate, in our dynamic program for our F3 car.

In your notes you said us that the formula is:
WR=(Effective Spring RATE) / (VR^2)

But in our case we don't have the pick up point from suspension yet, and in consequence we don't have VR and Spring rate. How can we do to solve this problem?

Referring to ARB rate, we have the Dallara Manual and this book shows all ARB configuration, and in each case it shows the stiffness [kg/mm], but how can we transform this data in ARB rate to introduce it in our program?

Thanks for all, and regards.
Martin

PD: We haven't a group name yet. Sorry!

Hi Martin and the F3 Team 2. You must give yourselves a better name!!!

You cannot use any of the self aligning torque data as I did not alter this model. The longitudinal and lateral data has been changed to agree more with a F3 tyre. I just forgot to alter the radius. It should however produce the same results. If you reply to this comment I will get an automatic email informing me of this. Thank's.

We are trying to solve Pacejka model for our F3. We found a problem in Aligning torque formula (pure), because the tyre radius parameter value is 0,328 m (Front). If we use this value our Height CG increases. In the Dallaras Manual of F305 appeares five types of tyres (Avon, Brigestone, Kumho, Hankook, Yokohama) and all of them have an average radius of 0,277 m.
We would like to know which radius should we consider in order to not affect any other parameter.

thanks
